When the Blue Key becomes available

The Blue Key becomes collectible during the Chapter 1 main quest in the Ogouchi Buffer Zone. Continue until you enter Subcity 03, speak with the Retired Gatekeeper, and receive the Red Key. That conversation starts the search for the remaining colored keys and places the relevant markers on the map.

If you are exploring the northeast before this story beat, the pickup may not be active yet. Advance the Subcity 03 objective first, then return to the route below.

Fast route from Subcity 03

The flooded ruins make the direct line look less useful than it is. Stay focused on reaching the upper northeast cliffside rather than searching every structure at water level.

1. Collect the Red Key from the Retired Gatekeeper in Subcity 03 so the colored-key search is active.
2. Leave Subcity 03 and select the nearest Blue Key objective marker toward the northeast side of the Ogouchi Buffer Zone.
3. Cross the drowned section by moving through and over the ruined buildings, using the climbable route to gain height.
4. Continue toward the cliff marked by a red flare and the nearby Lookout Shack campsite.
5. Go outside the shack and approach the broken Golem. Pick up the Blue Key from the ground directly in front of it.

How to recognize the exact pickup spot

Different guides name the same upper-area landmark slightly differently. Game8 describes it as the Subcity 03 watchtower at the top of a cliffside, while VGC calls it Lookout Shack. Both place the Blue Key in front of a broken Golem, which is the reliable visual cue once you reach the upper northeast route.

Do not keep circling the lower flooded buildings after you can see the elevated shack area. The pickup is outside, at ground level in front of the Golem, rather than inside a chest or on an enemy drop.

What the Blue Key unlocks

The Blue Key is one of the three colored keys required for the sealed door in Subcity 03. You also need the Red Key and Yellow Key before that Chapter 1 main objective can continue.

Game8 also identifies a separate Cavern Storage door near the starting area that accepts the Blue Key. Opening that optional door gives access to a strongbox, so it is worth backtracking before leaving the region if you want the extra loot.

If the marker or key is missing

Most problems come from arriving before the colored-key objective is active or searching below the correct elevation. Use this checklist before assuming the item is bugged.

• Confirm that you entered Subcity 03 and spoke with the Retired Gatekeeper
• Confirm that the Red Key was added to your key items
• Track the Blue Key objective instead of relying only on the world map
• Climb to the Lookout Shack level instead of staying in the flooded ruins
• Check the ground directly in front of the broken Golem
• If the pickup is gone, check your key items and test the sealed or storage door

Blue, Red, and Yellow Key order

The Red Key is given to you when the three-key objective begins. The Blue Key is the simpler field pickup at Lookout Shack. The Yellow Key route is longer because it involves Tailwater Village, an Elite Enemy, and the Tailwater Key before you can reach the Golem holding the final colored key.

You can collect the Blue and Yellow Keys in either practical exploration order once their objective is active, but all three are required at the Subcity 03 door.
